Kalkan itself accommodates 2 beaches: a so-called pebble beach on a 5 minute drive from the villa and an idyllic sandy beach just outside the village (Kaputas) accessible via a 40 m staircase. This beach is on the foot of a ravine and is totally secluded. On this beach there is no rental of beds or parasols, but you can bring your own parasol, there is one ready at the house. The beach of Kalkan offers you a selection of water sports. Did you know the bay of Kalkan is known as one of the most beautiful snorkelling areas in Turkey?

Besides this you can go canoeing, sailing, horseback riding, hiking, waterskiing, etc. (see: Beach Clubs) An absolute must is the beach of Patara, 20 km away. In this nature reserve (where in summer turtles dig their nests) you find one of the most stunning beaches of the Turkish Riviera. An 18 km long fine sandy beach where you can join the crowd at the charming beach pavilion or walk down a bit and enjoy a virtually private beach. You can also come here for a romantic moonlight dinner.  Patara Beach is easily accessible by your own vehicle, taxi or dolmus van. The beach is part of the nature reserve: in the time of the Lycians, Patara was the port of the capital Xanthos. Here you can find beautiful old tombs in unspoilt nature. To reach the beach, you have to buy a ticket which is valid throughout your stay in Kalkan. When you book one of the many organised (boot-) trips, you will find the most idyllic beaches only accessible from sea. (see:
